Amanda From The 'Dream Of Living' Blog Gave Me An Award...

Amanda of Dream Of Living kindly gave me this award:

Here is what this award is all about...

"This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. Blogging establishes friendly neighborhoods linked around the world".

I had the pleasure of "meeting" Amanda relatively recently. Amanda is an endometriosis patient who lives in Europe. She has written a blog for several years but just recently began blogging about her endometriosis. Her endo blog posts are candid, emotional, raw, and wonderfully detailed. She beautifully describes the challenges endo poses in her life and how she copes with them.

I am honored that Amanda has given me this award. I think the notion of proximity in the context of friendly blogging neighborhoods around the world is a perfect match for the link between me (in the U.S.) and Amanda (in Europe). I feel very connected to her by endometriosis and our similar experiences with it.

Amanda writes beautifully and I'm so happy that we found each other on this vast space called the Internet.

Amanda has left some thoughtful comments on my blog and her endo blog posts really delve into the emotional toll endo can take on a patient and her loved ones.

Please check out Amanda's blog for some great posts on endometriosis!

Dream Of Living

Thank you, Amanda!

Now, I have broken the rules and will not be passing this award along to the number of bloggers I'm supposed to.

Not only am I too tired to "follow the rules" but I don't want to pass this award along to someone else who will feel overwhelmed at having to select X number of other blogs for this award.

I am going to pass this along to two of my Canadian endometriosis blogging buddies.

If they are too tired to post the award or pass it along, that's OK! I'm going to list their blogs here because they are worth your time to check out:

Squidgeaboo's Endo Blog

Endometriosis: Facing The Battle Head-On

If they choose not to post the award/pass it along (because I know they both have full plates right now!!!), that's OK. This post will still, hopefully, send some readers their way.

My purpose for selecting these two particular blogs is simply because I love these blogs, I love these bloggers, and I'd love to send some traffic to their well-written blogs!

So, please check out the blogs of Amanda, Melissa, and Squidgeaboo. They all have important things to say about endometriosis and living with chronic illness.

Take a peek and see why I like them so much! :)

It's all good with awards, give to as many or as few as you want to.

I still remember my first one came from you and I am still honored and thankful you thought to be so sweet to me!

Jannie,

I've learned that I sometimes need to modify the rules for accepting and posting blog awards.

I used to be a very "by the book at all times" type of person... but I have learned over the years that there are some times where it IS OK to "break the rules".

As long as breaking the rules ISN'T hurting anyone, ISN'T breaking any laws and ISN'T something unethical, I do it if I see the need.

Sometimes rules are made to be broken.

As far as having given you award awhile back, I didn't know that was your first blog award.

I gave you an award because your blog is interesting, funny, written by you, and upbeat. Your blog makes people laugh.

Laughter is the best medicine. Blogs like yours are wonderful for chronically ill patients because they help people to take their minds off their pain and read things that are funny, wacky, interesting, or all of the above.

Plus they get to read material written by a brilliant, caring, thoughtful woman who just happens to be a fantastic poet and songwriter on top of being a great blogger -- who just happens to have endometriosis even if not very many of her readers know it!

By the way, readers, I should mention Jannie's "proximity background" since we are commenting on the award that values connecting bloggers around the world.

Jannie hails from Canada originally but currently resides in Texas.

She is famous for blog posts like the one that featured snowy palm trees. (She's used to snow. Her Texas neighbors, on the other hand... not so much).

Here's the snowy palm post:

Her blog has some downright hysterical stuff on it. So check it out.

P.S. Jannie, my anal habit of proofreading failed and I spelled something wrong in your comment reply. I just deleted it so I could post this comment with the correct spelling. Do you remember that blog post you wrote about typos? Well, I am a little too worried about spelling. I drive myself crazy constantly checking spelling. :)

Congratulations on your latest award. Your blog encourages and distributes love to all who read it.

Mckay k,

Hi! Thank you. I'm hanging in there. Quite honestly, 2009 has been a rough year so far. I'm not complaining. It is what it is.

Thank you! I really appreciate your kind words. You are one of the most positive people I have ever met.

I miss you too and have been thinking of you.

You do the same (monitor your health, take care of yourself). :)

I hope you are doing well!

Jeanne
