Infertility?? Check Out Alicia's 'Mommy Wannabe Club' To Connect With Others!!

Meet Alicia.

Some of you may know her by her nickname ("Yaya"). I first met Alicia through my local endometriosis (in person) support group. She is a fellow blogger and a strong, inspirational woman who works intently at advocating for patients with a history of infertility and miscarriages/pregnancy loss.

Alicia's passion, drive, determination, caring, humor, and compassion have attracted a flock of readers to her blog. She is helping great numbers of people. It is an honor to call Alicia my friend, to learn from her, to watch her advocacy efforts blossom, and to witness the multitude of ways she is helping others!

She is also becoming a great source of information on adoption and the foster-to-adopt process. Her blog covers all of these issues and much more.

Here is a brief biographical sketch about Alicia from her blog profile:

"Read along in my quest to become a Mommy, one way or another. It's been 6 years and several miscarriages, but I'm not giving up!"

My friend Alicia of the blog Yayastuff has launched a new venture!

Visit Mommy Wannabe Club

She has started a social network called the Mommy Wannabe Club.

Here is her blog post about it:

Alicia asked me if I would help her get the word out about her new club. I am honored to assist her efforts in any way I can!

Dear Jeanne,
THANK YOU! Oh I'm an emotional wreck being on these progesterone suppositories and your post just brought tears to my eyes! Thank you for your support!

I was a little hurt because I am an avid follower on the ivillage message board and I posted about my new 'club' and they deleted my post. Josh says it's because I would be 'stealing' their ppl, but in my opinion, the more resources you have the better.

Thank you so much.
Wishing you health, wealth and happiness in 2009.
Yaya

Alicia,

You are very welcome! I'm glad you liked it! I would do ANYTHING to support you... you know that. :)

With all due respect to ivillage, that makes ZERO sense to me that they deleted your stuff. I absolutely don't understand why they would censor you by deleting your post. That seems very uncool!

It's not like you're hawking a product, making claims for "false cures" or something uncool like that. For heavens sakes, you are offering a safe place of comfort to people!! You're volunteering your time to help others!!

Do they have a written rule prohibiting what you posted?? That just makes ZERO sense to me!

As far as "stealing" their people, that makes zero sense to me!! (Though I understand what Josh was saying to help you feel better)...

As you said, the more resources the better!! Besides, doesn't your identity get posted whenever you post a comment there? I don't post on ivillage so I don't know how it works.

I know ivillage has been really, really helpful to you and that must have hurt! That has been a safe place for you!

It's a crying shame they would delete your post.

That must have been very hurtful.

I waited MONTHS and MONTHS for BlogHer ad approval. (BlogHer and ivillage are affiliated somehow from what their contract said). My request was "pending" from last summer until very recently.

Their Co-Founder added me on twitter recently. I wrote back a tweet message requesting a status.

I very quickly got emails from 2 BlogHer people and they "approved" me. They sent me nice, friendly emails but they gave me just 48 hours to respond!! It was an 11-page contract!

When I expressed my anxiety about the deadline, one of them told me not to worry about the 2 day rule but their written policy said 2 days so I wasn't taking any chances. Thus the all-nighter. (It hardly seemed fair to me to wait months and then get told I had 2 days to get the contract sent back to them).

I literally stayed up all night working on the contract (reading fine print and filling out a few forms plus emailing questions to them for clarification on some things).

I sent a couple of emails to them with questions. At first they replied. Then they didn't answer all of my questions. I have not heard from them since.

So I pulled their widget from my blog. I had been giving them free advertising since last summer! The heck with that!

I have no idea why they have a "waiting list" but that really hurt my feelings that they made me wait MONTHS and then didn't answer all of my questions after I stayed up all night doing their application! The contract had all sorts of legalese and apparently was written by attorneys.

If they have a team of lawyers (which I'm just assuming they do) and can draw up an 11 page contract for the ad agreement, don't I have the right to ask a few questions so I know what I'm agreeing to?? I don't have a staff or lawyers. I'm it. It's just me. I take signing a contract seriously and simply wanted some questions answered.

I don't sign things I don't completely understand!!!

I have seen plenty of BlogHer advertisers who don't necessarily follow all of the BlogHer rules... I was determined not to be one of them! They never did write back from my most recent email.

So I pulled their widget. Why should I give them free advertising?

I'm sure they must have some rule against whatever you had posted if they pulled it or they wouldn't have pulled it.

However, it makes no sense to me. I wouldn't take it personally!! I'm sure it's some sort of legal thing.

Personally, I was hurt that I killed myself trying to respect their 2 day deadline (and not get passed over for their ad program by them moving down their waiting list past me). However, I have gotten over it.

If they don't want my blog with a perfect target audience for them, no problem.

Honestly, I don't understand how they operate.

Don't take it to heart! Like you said, the more resources available to patients the better!!

I can see why you were upset but try not to let it get to you.

Heck, your blog is 100% volunteer and you don't even have any ads!!

Wishing you health, wealth, and happiness in 2009 too!!

Alicia, I know your pain and longing with the endo and miscarriages. I really do.

I think you are amazing to want to start this group up and I hope you will jump any little hurdle that may stand in your way, such as that post being deleted. Better yet, go around that hurdle!

You and Jeanne are both amazing to me.

God bless and know that many of us are thinking about you.

God bless you for all of your positive energy and support. I know you have had more than your share of adversity (!) but you are still the "Funster"... spreading laughter to so many in the blogosphere.

What a great gift you give with your humor & grace!
